About The Course

Why is parenting such a struggle, when we have so much information available to us?

Why do we still behave in ways that don’t meet our values,

becoming angry, disempowered and overwhelmed?

Embodied Parenting offers new, practical ways to help you sustain healthy, dignified and compassionate relationships with your children and supports you to…

reduce stress and conflict

respond skilfully to challenging behaviour

grow your teen’s confidence, resilience and well-being

foster happier, more harmonious relationships

Community

Participants can ‘meet’ in virtual cafes before and after the calls, and have access to private FB and Linked-In groups, because we learn more deeply when we feel supported, and can share our reflections, challenges and progress with others

Practical Learning

This isn’t just another parenting summit, throughout the five days we will teach you to apply what you learn to your daily life, through demos, practices and discussions and you will have access to additional resources to support your learning

Expert Teachers

We are joined by trusted colleagues from across the world, who bring their own unique voice and knowledge, and know how to keep the learning practical and interactive

Why Join Us?

Because for the first time ever, we are bringing the wisdom of the body to parenting, online.

No matter how many books we read or theories we know,  we still struggle to to put what we know into practice, because knowing what to do is not enough. We can’t change our minds with our mind alone, when our patterns, habits and attitudes are held in our bodies.

The good news is, it’s through body-based learning we find the key to change. But, despite increased awareness about the importance of the mind-body connection, it is still the missing ingredient in, or simply  an ‘add on’ to, other parent-trainings.

This course is the first of its kind to delve deeper into this topic, and is our commitment to filling that gap.  Throughout the five days, there will be live demos and interactive exercises to help you learn and apply new skills and tools to your parenting, when you need them the most. Although we hope you will join us on as many live calls as you can, we know they won’t all fit your schedule, so they will be recorded for you to watch in your own time and available to you for your ongoing learning and practice.

Who Is It For?

Parents, carers and professionals who want to learn accessible tools that help minimize stress and conflict, increase connection and compassion, and become the skillful, trusted leader their children need, no matter how difficult the challenge.

Themes

Regulation and Resilience

Learn principles and practices to reduce family stress and reactivity, and sustain connection and compassion, in the heat of the moment and over the long-term

Parenting in the Modern Age

Hold on to your ethics, values and boundaries in the face of external pressures and help your children meet today’s challenges with greater agency and ease

Power, Pleasure and Play

Identity, Image and Belonging

Foster your teen’s self-awareness, self-leadership, positive body-image and mental well-being,  and restore a sense of belonging, community and support

And Lots More...

Our approach helps you meet daily challenges with more confidence –  whether faced with toddler tantrums, argumentative teens,  or struggles with school, bullying, peer pressure or social media.

We will show you ways to stay steady under pressure, be more insightful about your child’s behaviours and more influential with your responses. You will learn  essential skills including compassionate limit setting.

Here is some of the learning we will introduce you to…

Keep your head cool and compassion intact

Build trust through aligning values, words and actions

Understand the wisdom behind the challenging behaviours

Increase family regulation, resilience and wellbeing

Recognise and transcend reactive patterns and triggers

Keep anchored through temper tantrums and teenage outbursts

Stay connected to teens through the turbulent years

Uphold values and boundaries in the face of external pressure

Reduce conflict, defiance and other challenging behaviours

‘Feel and deal’ with intense emotions, without joining the chaos

R

Rediscover pleasure, play and joy in your relationships

Grow and learn from, instead of react to, your teens

Find and sustain support, and a nourishing self-care practice

Safely and authentically express, rather than suppress, feelings

Empower your teen’s confidence, positive body-image and self-awareness

Influence through curiosity and confidence instead of control

Keep communication open and safe, without triggering shame and shut-down

Foster identity, connection and belonging through embodied stories, rituals and routines

.

Pragmatic, Empowering, Accessible Approach

Become Your Own Parenting Guru

The Embodied Parenting approach is not like reading tips and techniques in a book; it offers simple, pragmatic practices that you can feel and test out in your body.  It doesn’t subscribe to any particular parenting model, because we don’t believe there is a one-size- fits-all approach.

That’s why we prioritise relationship over behaviour management, and we promote authenticity over perfect parenting; there is no ‘ideal’ parent we should be aspiring to.  Our approach won’t solve all your parenting problems – but we are more likely to take wise action, more often, when we can see and perceive more clearly, and feel empowered, and resourced, rather than reactive and powerless.

When we use our body’s intelligence, we have an accessible and short cut route to changing how we feel, think and behave. We can choose how to respond, rather than be run by our unconscious habits. We build the practical skills we need to parent more effectively (e.g. setting limits).  We parent with more insight and intuition.  We remember we already have everything we need to be the trusted and compassionate parents we hoped to be.

Welcome to our first-ever online-course.

Our children look to us to be their source of strength and leadership. But living with the daily roller-coaster of intense emotions can leave the wisest parents feeling powerless.  Like us, you probably felt ashamed when you discovered you were the angry, critical parent you said you would never become. How can we transform our triggers, make sense of our child’s behavours, and not take them personally?

Even when our relationships are happy and healthy, the pressures of education and social media mean we have to confront an onslaught of external pressures fighting to control our children’s mind’s bodies, and spirits; how do we help our teens access their internal power and self-worth, so we trust they can make smarter choices (with their smart phones!), and face modern life with self-awareness and courage?

How do we keep conversations open and shame free, when they turn to issues such as sex and consent – and restore our own sense of pleasure and play that we thought was long onso we become role-models for living an imperfect, often messy, yet satisfying and nourishing life?

We have personally faced every one of these questions, and more. And though our family lives are varied and different  (you can read more about us here), we share common parenting concerns, and we met through our joint passion for sharing embodied tools with parents.

We have learnt that when we connect to our body’s intelligence, we feel differently about ourselves – instead of defeated and depleted, we feel more  influential and skillful, and worthy of receiving compassion and care for ourselves. We’ve created this course because we’d love for you to experience that too, so we hope you choose to join us.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark Walsh from Integration Training for supporting us to spread the word to a wider audience through this online platform.

We look forward to meeting you.

How will the event work?

The event consists of 30 to 90 min Zoom sessions (these are like group Skype calls). Zoom is an online video conference platform; it’s free to use, easy to access and allows the opportunity for you to participate and interact with the speaker and/or other participants in plenary and breakout rooms.

Zoom calls will be interactive sessions by an experienced teacher, and will include practical exercises and opportunities for questions. There will also be two panel discussions.

There will be 2 to 3 live teaching video calls + one morning and one evening practice session per day, spread across time zones globally, so wherever you are you will have the chance to attend some live calls. All calls will be recorded and available for life after the course. This means you can choose to join the live event or listen, and re-listen to the recording of any session at a time that is convenient for you.

If you want to know more about Zoom, how to use it and its possibilities and limitations, we will be sharing an introductory “how to use zoom” video before the event…but basically, it’s free and easy and can be used on many devices – desktops, laptops, tablets and mobiles.

There will also be private Facebook and LinkedIn groups for conversations to take place and for other information.

Requirements

• The event will not be athletic and all bodies are very welcome

• No previous experience of  embodied work, mindfulness or other techniques is required – simply an open-ness and curiosity to work with the body in mind!

• It’s recommended to have a Facebook or LinkeIn account as discussion and some resources will be posted there

• A good internet connection helps with Zoom and break-out discussions if you can make the calls live

• Remember calls will be recorded and available to download indefinitely if you can’t make them live.

What Our Families are Saying

I have already had many opportunities to use the techniques we practiced; I definitely feel more empowered, and they always help

Without doubt it has been the most priceless support I could ever have asked for. It is hard to put into words, it is so valuable for me, especially working with someone I don’t have to fear being judged by

.

The workshop was challenging but invaluable. I finally feel like I know how to make a REAL difference to my family
